Why should the kids have all the fun?
"As a Cub leader I enjoy awarding badges to the Cubs for their hard work, and have often thought I wish I could earn badges. And now I can, like a eager Cub I am working my way through the book. I just wish I could have the actual badge to sew on my Camp blanket." Amazon review

BUNGEE JUMPING
Gain this badge and you'll be the envy of your fellow scout leaders! With a few basic materials you will be able to have hours of fun with the most incredible adrenaline rushes!
To gain your badge
1. Obtain a length of elasticated rope or other thick cord. Ideally you will need at least two hundred feet. If you use standard polypropylene rope you will ideally have 20mm thickness as a minimum. If not it is essential that you do your jump over water, otherwise wear a helmet.
2. Furthermore, if using polypropylene rope you will need to have some elasticity built in to avoid a dead stop. Cut the rope in at least two places and tie in lengths of bicycle inner tube using a reef knot as this is the simplest.
3. Tie one end of the rope around your waist using a clove hitch.
4. Find a bridge or climb a crane. You will find many cranes dotted around various parts of the country, especially London. If you are some way from London consider staying overnight in one the parks as part of your unofficial Survival badge.
5. Tie the other end to part of the crane or the bridge railing using a knot of your choosing. Jump.
6. If nothing happens, you have tied the wrong end. Untie it and tie the other end. Jump.
7. If the bridge or crane is high enough you should bounce. If you have used a bicycle inner tube you may find that you bounce back to higher than where you started from. If you don't bounce but just keep on going you have probably untied your clove hitch instead of the knot of your choosing. It would be suggested that in this case you may like to have another attempt but it may be a bit late.
8. If your jump is successful and you are conscious lower yourself to the ground using a penknife to cut the rope above your head. Aim to land / enter the water on your feet.
